See some special selections from our collections! See how birds and bugs come in many shapes and sizes.
North American Hall
Explore bird beak basics and peck, scoop, and pry your way through a birdy buffet. Enroll in Arthropods 101 and learn what makes a bug a bug.
Real science comes to life through roaring, thrashing, life-size animatronic dinosaurs and awe-inspiring stories of prehistoric Earth. The exhibit also features full-size Jurassic Period dinosaur skeletons, real fossils and fossil casts, hands-on activities, and the latest stories about dinosaur behavior and appearance.
Stop by and visit our live invertebrates at their temporary home by the Panda diorama. Ask our critter keepers your burning bug questions and touch a real live bug.
Make a jumping spider and a brainy bird bookmark to take home.
Bird and Bug Day is part of All-Star Week (Friday through Monday, December 27–30), when the Academy celebrates its most popular attractions with live animal shows, museum specimens, craft making, and storytelling. Free with museum admission.
