On the Menu

This October, the Academy Café launched Meatless Mondays. Every Monday, we will serve vegan and vegetarian alternatives in place of all meat options. This meat-free day will provide healthy and delicious substitutes that are made right on our premises.
Many typical meat dishes, such as chili or stuffed bell peppers, will be served with protein-packed beans and rice. Warm vegetable soups made with meat-free broth and ingredients will be served alongside the standard Café offerings, such as salads, and sandwiches, and kid-friendly foods.
The goal of Meatless Mondays is to help you reduce your meat consumption by 15 percent to improve your personal health and the health of the planet. Meatless Monday is a nonprofit initiative of the Monday Campaigns, in association with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. By cutting meat from our menu once a week, the Academy Café hopes to inspire visitors to improve their diets and eat more sustainably!
Located on the ground level of the museum, the Academy Café is operated by 12th Street Catering. It serves hot lunch specials as well as fresh fruit, salads, yogurt, homemade cookies, treats, and foods for kids. All vegetables, fruit, and milk products are pesticide-free and farm fresh. Everything is also locally sourced from neighboring farms in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware. The Academy Café is proud to contribute to the growing interest in sustainability that creates long-term, healthy lifestyles for you and the environment.
