Explore the mysteries of the deep.
Now through September 6, 2010
Take a journey to the most inaccessible ecosystem on Earth: the deep sea. This vast and largely unexplored environment is freezing cold and utterly dark. On top of that, the water pressure is so extreme that it would instantly crush you. Yet, this inhospitable world is home to the greatest diversity of life on the planet.
Come and explore this alien and amazing world where submarine canyons run deeper than the Grand Canyon and sea mounts dwarf Mount Everest, where fish swallow prey larger than themselves, where life thrives next to scalding and toxic hydrothermal vents, and where myriad creatures put on dazzling shows of light.
Creatures of the Abyss is free with museum admission.
