Fall 2011 Homeschool Programs
Homeschool programs are back at the Academy! Hands-on investigations and behind-the-scenes explorations bring science to homeschooled students. Each series offers an in-depth look at an exciting science topic from the perspectives of current research as well as the Academys historical collections.
Budding Botanists
Investigate the science of soil and the practices of pollinators. Take a walk right here in Center City and see how plants have a way of growing even in downtown Philadelphia.
- Ages: 79.
- Three (3) Wednesday sessions at 24 pm; September 28, October 5, and October 12.
Botany: The Science of Plants
Learn about the science of plants from Academy experts. Put your new knowledge to the test as you design and implement your own plant-based experiment. Continue your exploration of plantsboth native and introducedof Philadelphia on a walk in Center City.

- Three (3) Thursday sessions at 24 pm; September 29, October 6, and October 13.
Homeschool Programming Details:
Fees:
- Academy members: $50 per series, per child
- Nonmembers: $65 per series, per child
Reservations:
- Call 215-299-1060 to make your reservation.
- Individual dates cannot be reserved. Each reservation is for the entire 3-day series listed above.
- Payment is due at the time of registration.
- Cancellations requested before August 30 will be refunded in their entirety. Cancellations made between August 30 and September 13 will be charged a $15 cancellation fee per reservation. No refund will be given to cancellations occurring after September 13.
Parents are not required to attend homeschool programming. While older children are learning, parents and younger siblings are encouraged to explore the Academys other offerings, including Outside In and Butterflies! (Each family will be given 4 free Academy passes for use in the museum during the program for parents and additional siblings.)
