Overview: The Town Square program on Health Care, Food Safety, and Antibiotics was replete with useful information, expert commentary, and valuable presentations. Collectively, the discussions drew links between our health, antibiotics use, impacts on natural ecosystems, food animals, farming methods, pharmaceutical production, and the economic pressures faced by the farming community. Discussions further elicited ideas about what each member of the audience could do to continue to reduce antibiotic resistance and to support the farming community. (more…)

Join us as a panel of experts examines the routine use of antibiotics in large animal farms as a tool to increase meat production. Learn how this widespread practice impacts human health, food safety, and the environment. Panelists will include representatives from the Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production, the Pew Health Group, Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture, Temple University School of Medicine, and the Academy of Natural Sciences.
