Containing an Expedition

Join us today for Three Weeks Behind the Scenes to get the picture on how we keep track of some of our historic fieldwork. The Academy Archives is home to more than 400 reels of film footage, many of which capture expeditions and comprise an unmatched visual record of Academy scientists at work. Though grant funds have made it possible for us to rehouse this collection, the Archives have carefully preserved the original film containers, which are an important reminder of the Academy’s rich history.

How does the Academy preserve moments caught on cellulose-nitrate film? Find out in another of our 200 Stories.
