Ichthyology Behind the Scenes
We’re making a splash with today’s Three Weeks Behind the Scenes photograph. These Morrish idol (Zanclus cornutus) specimens were collected during an expedition to the South Pacific in 1937 sponsored by George Vanderbilt. The specimens were identified by Henry W. Fowler, curator of Ichthyology from 1902 through 1965, and published by him in the monograph, The Fishes of the George Vanderbilt South Pacific Expedition, 1937 (1938).
