The Ewell Sale Stewart Library
Ewell Sale Stewart Library Natural History Research Science Library
The Library and Archives were established at the founding meeting of The Academy of Natural Sciences in 1812 to support the Academy's work. The Library's primary client is the staff of The Academy of Natural Sciences. Other clients include Academy members, scientists, historians, artists, graduate students, corporations, and members of the public with advanced interests in the natural world.
The mission of the Ewell Sale Stewart Library remains the provision of high quality information services in natural history subjects on a timely basis. The Library meets our clientele's information needs through a variety of services utilizing the Library and Archives collections, resource sharing with other libraries, and accessing information available electronically.
The Academy Library is named in
honor of Ewell Sale Stewart
(1924-1987), a longtime friend

The library is located on the second floor of The Academy of Natural Sciences museum. Appointments to visit and use the library are required in advance. (See Visitor Info for more information.)
