Joshua Alder and Albany Hancock's Monograph of the British Nudibranchiate Mollusca, 1845-1855, is a folio-sized publication that brought them international recognition. Follow its publication, Alder and Hancock studied nudibranchs (sea slugs) from other seas.

This illustration (Plate 32) presents three species of nudibranchs from India that were described and illustrated in an 1864 scientific paper in the Transactions of the Zoological Society of London.
