<p>Pioneer naturalist, known as the &#8220;Father of American Botany&#8221;, his travels covered the Atlantic seaboard from Lake Ontario to the Everglades, during which he made notes on plants, trees, animals, shells and Indians. Grouped here are seven letters to Peter Collinson and items of biographical interest. Commemorative papers about celebrations, schools, expeditions, garden clubs, etc., named in his honor, round out the collection.</p>
