<p>Zoologist and physician, once a professor at the University of Zurich, with broad natural history interests, Schinz also was something of an artist. The four small pictures of Swiss birds in watercolor are assigned to him becasue accompanied by a small book, a reproduction in part of Schinz' bird book of 1819.</p>
