Stone was always much interested in the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club which was so closely connected with the Academy of Natural Sciences. He inaugurated and aided most of the Club's projects and wrote up many of them in his name as representative of the Club. The writings in this collection while mostly about birds, also reflect his interest in local plants, spiders and related groups.
