The Academy's expedition for paleontological field work in Nebraska was carried on during the summer of 1938. The title-page set up for this note-book is, “Field Note Book Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, Expedition to Agate, Nebraska and other Folliliferous Areas, 1938. Members of Expedition, Edwin H. Colbert, Edgar B. Howard, Malcolm Lloyd, Jr., Edward C. Page, Jr.” This notebook begins with a diary, July 6- August 19 inclusive. It closes with a list of the mammals seen on the trip with a listing of field numbers 1-35. Colbert is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and consequently well acquainted with the area of this expedition. He went with the group as Associate Curator of the Academy which position he held between 1937-1940 when he became a research associate.
