<p>Secretary, librarian and editor for the Academy, Nolan throughout his lifetime was an active participant in every branch and aspect of the Academy, no project being initiated or accomplished without his aid. Lists, indexes, annotations, letters and biographies include information about the Cope Fund, the Academy's publications, sale of shells and books, about John H. Redfield and George W. Tryon. His holograph copies of 1466 letters which were written in his official capacities are included in <emph render="italic">Coll. 567. </emph>A series of ten speeches, 1910-15 mostly about the history of the Academy or of library organizations concludes the collection.</p>
