Included are childhood copybooks, drawings and portraits, architectural drawings, maps and some news clippings. The school books were made during his attendance at the Nazareth Boy's School of the Moravian Church, in 1794-97. Also contained here are plans of his business establishments, drafts of his inventions, maps of the Wilkesbarre, Pa. region and a “Town-plot” of Jefferson County, Ohio. The news clippings, pasted on 46 folio leaves, relate to canals, railroads, reports of legislative procedures on transportation in general, steamboats, turnpikes, agriculture. Some examples of Cist's poetry are interspersed.
