<p>A geologist and mineralogist, Lewis became professor of geology at Haverford College. He was a member of this Academy, of the American Philosophical Society, the Franklin Institute and several foreign scientific societies. He worked on the geological survey of Pennsylvania, his special interest being in glacial drift and moraines, both here and in Great Britain.</p>
<p>This collection contains scientific papers, working notes, reports, photographs, and a large scrapbook of 161 pages, containing biographical material, letters, maps and scientific papers. In it is much historical data relating to the Academy.</p>
