An American conchologist who described himself as being a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, of the Geological Society of Pennsylvania and of the Philosophical Society of Ohio, began this workbook in 1831. The general title-page, “Monographs of the several genera of terrestrial and fluviatile shells of the United States, with other malacological mema...” is followed by a later one, “A Monograph of the Cypraeidae, Feb, 1832” near the back of the book. Between the two are transcripts of six writings on conchology. L. S. Frierson of Shreveport, La. considered this workbook an “autographic list of the shells in Poulson's collection”.
