The Board of Trustees of the Building Fund was established to raise money for a new building for the Academy at 19th and Race Streets. The main part of the building was completed and opened in time for the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition in 1876. However, a large new wing was immediately projected and the Board of Trustees continued its duties. The two most important members were W. S. W. Ruschenberger, who acted as Chairman, and George Vaux, Jr. who served as treasurer. In this lot are included the bylaws and duties of the trustees, their minutes, bank book, annual reports from 1878-92, treasurer's reports, and many items relating to subscriptions and subscribers to the fund.
