<p>Although most of these treatises appeared in the Academy's early serials, some predated that time. A list of the articles by some 81 naturalists has been prepared and is available for reference. The papers themselves deal with all sorts of natural history subjects, some of the more prolific authors
being: Spencer F. Baird, John Cassin, Charles Girard, Gerard Troost, Lardner Vanuxem, and S. W. Woodhouse. These writings are preserved with the intention of providing research workers with examples of the techniques used by individual workers in preparing reports for publication.</p>
