This Scotch botanist visited the United States in 1891 to deliver a speech on insectivorous plants before the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He remained here as professor of botany at the University of Pennsylvania and Director of the Botanic Garden there, which position he held until 1920. The single item in this collection, a mimeographed eight-page treatise, called simply, “Summary of Results” bears the autographed inscription: “Fishes the Source of Petroleum”.
