Philadelphia clergyman and apiculturist who revolutionized beekeeping practices by the invention of the movable beehive. A member of the Academy who collaborated with Joseph Leidy who did the microscopical work on the honey bee. Langstroth is known as “The Father of American Beekeeping.” A holograph copy of his article: “On the impregnation of the eggs of the Queen bee”, published in the Proceedings of the Academy, v. 6, 1852, p. 49-50.
