<p>Series I consists of 47 <genreform>portrait paintings </genreform>of Academy Presidents, various officers and members of the Academy, and naturalist personalities. Portraits include indivuals such as <persname>Sir Joseph Banks, 1743-1820, </persname><persname>Alexander Lawson, 1773-1846, </persname><persname>Charles Alexandre Lesueur, 1778-1846, </persname><persname>Thomas Say, 1787-1834, </persname>and many others. Artists represented in the collection include: <persname>Adolph Borie, </persname><persname>William K. Hewitt, 1818-1892, </persname><persname>John Neagle, </persname><persname>Charles Willson Peale,
1741-1827, </persname><persname>Rembrandt Peale, 1778-1860, </persname>
<persname>Bernhard Uhle, </persname><persname>Samuel Bell Waugh, </persname>
<persname>James Longacre Wood, </persname>and many others. </p>

<p>Series II consists of 29 portraits of naturalists and Academy affiliated persons.
Portraits include: <persname>E. T. (Ezra Townsend) Cresson, 1838-1926, </persname><persname>Baron Georges Cuvier, 1769-1832, </persname><persname>Charles Darwin, 1809-1882, </persname><persname>Alexander von Humboldt, 1769-1859, </persname><persname>Joseph Leidy, 1823-1891, </persname>and others. Artists represented include: <persname>Antoine Maurin, 1793-1860, </persname><persname>George Thomas Doo, </persname>and others.  Mediums include: <genreform>engravings, </genreform><genreform>etchings, </genreform><genreform>lithographs, </genreform><genreform>photographic prints, </genreform><genreform>photomechanical prints, </genreform>and <genreform>watercolors.  </genreform></p>

<p>Series III is a bound volume of 64 portraits portraying the honorary members of the Ipswich Museum in Suffolk, England. The book does not contain a title page, but a sheet found within the book reads:  "Portraits of Honorary Members of the Ipswich Museum published by George Ransome, F.L.S., etc., Hon. Sec. Dedicated, with Permission, to Her Manjesty the Queen and H.R.H. Prince Albert, Ipswich, 1852".  Lithographs were drawn by <persname>Thomas Herbert Maguire, 1821-1895. </persname>The book is bound in marbled paper with a brown leather spine and measures 61 x 45 cm. The pages within measure 60 x 43 cm., and most lithographs have been pasted onto the pages within. Individual image sizes are noted.  Items are listed as they appear in the bound volume. </p> 

<p>Series IV consists of papers relating to the background and conservation of the portraits.  </p>

Dedicated, with Permission, to Her Manjesty the Queen and H.R.H. Prince Albert, Ipswich, 1852".  Lithographs were drawn by <persname>Thomas Herbert Maguire, 1821-1895. </persname>The book is bound in marbled paper with a brown leather spine and measures 61 x 45 cm.
