Several expeditions were sent to the gravel pit between Portales and Clovis, New Mexico, the 1937 one being sponsored jointly by the Academy of Natural Sciences and the University Museum of the University of Pennsylvania. The personnel under the supervision of Edgar B. Howard, Curator of Geology and Paleontology at the Academy consisted of the following: William T. Clarke, Jr.; Malcolm Bull, West Texas Teachers College; Alexander B. Brock, Williams College; George Murnane, Harvard University; George Cheston, Harvard University; Ambrose C. Cramer, III, Yale; and Robert R. Solenberger, University of Pennsylvania. The aims of the field trip were archaeological, paleontological and geological, the reports being published in the Proceedings of the Academy after the expedition ended. Other persons included in the expedition, were: R. M. Burnett, Leonard Eady, J. S. Pearce and Ray V. Davis. The documents concerned with this expedition consist of a cash book with daily entries of expenses, a portfolio of receipted bills, and a copy of his [UNK] field notes, 1936.
