Under the auspices of the Academy of Natural Sciences the author, accompanied by James A. G. Rhen traveled through Texas and New Mexico April 3rd to July 2nd of 1902. The diary is devoted primarily to insect collecting but contains some general notes on other animals and on the flora of the area. Much personal information is included about the trip. Local history notes are scattered throughout. Two special small sections at the end deal with the Alamo Canyon and Alamagordo.
