As a young man P. P. Calvert made an extended trip to Europe. During his absence, he kept up a steady correspondence with his mother. Many of these letters were preserved and form the first part of this lot. The second group of letters was written by Dr. and Mrs. Calvert during their trip to Costa Rica, 1909-10. They contain newsy chitchat as well as Calvert's biological, political and physiographical notes about the country.
