American naturalist, founder-member of the Entomological Society of Philadelphia and active in it until his death. Curator of the Society's Cabinet, but gave his personal collections to younger workers. The journal gives localities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey with ecological notes. Most of the collecting was done in 1849. A few pages devoted to addresses and expenses, with six medical prescriptions at end. A bound volume of 120 pages. Presented to E. T. Cresson, Jr., 1948 by Herbert Archdeacon, a grandson of Ridings. Donated by Cresson and later archived with the American Entomological Society's papers.
