American Rivers (www.amrivers.org) is a national conservation organization that works towards protecting and restoring America’s rivers and promotes river stewardship. Along with Trout Unlimited and Friends of the Earth, American Rivers has written a book about Dam Removal Success Stories that can be downloaded from their web site.
Friends of the River (www.friendsoftheriver.org) is a statewide conservation organization based in California.
National Wildlife Federation (www.nwf.org) is a national conservation organization that educates and protects the environment.
International River Network (http://www.irn.org/) is an international campaign for river restoration and dam decommissioning. IRN supports local communities working to protect their rivers and watersheds. It works to halt destructive river development projects, and to encourage equitable and sustainable methods of meeting needs for water, energy and flood management.
Trout Unlimited (www.tu.org) is a nationwide conservation organization consisting of anglers who promote quality fishing and fisheries.
River Alliance of Wisconsin www.wisconsinrivers.org/) is a statewide citizens advocacy organization for river protection and restoration. Their Small Dams Program has developed "Dam Removal: A Citizen's Guide to Restoring Rivers" based on their extensive experience with dam removal.
The Nature Conservancy (http://www.tnc.org) is an international conservation organization that works toward preserving terrestrial and aquatic habitats. One of the dam removal projects they are studying is on the Neversink River in New York.
