    Join the Academy for a day featuring Tiktaalik roseae before this famous fossil returns to Canada. Tiktaalik roseae, better known as the "fishapod," is a 375-million-year-old fossil fish that was discovered in the Canadian Arctic in 2004. Its discovery sheds light on a pivotal point in the history of life on Earth: when the very first fish ventured out onto land.
  • Mega-Bad Movie Night: Deep Blue Sea

    Join us at the Academy after hours to watch the “awesomely awful” movie, Deep Blue Sea. In this science fiction horror film, scientists face off with a group of genetically engineered, super smart, and mega-terrifying sharks, and things get ugly real fast. Witty experts will be onstage to offer their quips and sidesplitting comments on the many scientific absurdities—think Mystery Science Theater 3000!
  • Appreciation Day: Police, Firefighters, and the Office of Emergency Management

    The Philadelphia Police Department, Fire Department, and Office of Emergency Management are at the Academy for a special day of activities and presentations on this day set aside to show appreciation for their bravery and service.
