David Jay Velinsky: Personal Information

David Velinsky joined the Patrick Center in late 1995, expanding the direction and capabilities of the Environmental Geochemistry Section. His early interest in the ocean and chemistry started a path towards oceanography and geochemistry. David obtained his B.S. in Oceanography at Florida Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in Chemical Oceanography at Old Dominion University for his studies of selenium and sulfur in salt marshes of the Delaware Estuary. David continued his estuarine studies throughout Delaware Bay as well as the fjords of Norway while doing his postdoctoral studies at both the College of Marine Studies (University of Delaware) and the Geophysical Laboratory, part of the Carnegie Institution of Washington. His current interests involve the transport and biogeochemical processing of nutrients and trace metals from rivers and streams to Delaware and Chesapeake bays.
