| Ecuador has one of the richest bird faunas in the world. So is it any wonder that I have taken part in more expeditions to that country than any other place? One of many high points was a 1998 Academy expedition with Robert S. Ridgely to study the Jocotoco Antpitta. The bird, discovered only three months earlier by Ridgely, created a sensation in the ornithological world. |
