Ichthyology has been a part of research at the Academy since its beginnings, and over the years, it has grown in size and importance over the last 127 years. The collection currently houses an estimated 1.5 million cataloged specimens. The department’s research stretches worldwide, but its strengths include freshwater species of North and South America and marine species of the Bahamas, Western Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

On Founders Day, admission to the Academy is just $10 per person! Your discounted ticket includes admission to the whole museum, including Dinosaur Hall, the dioramas and our temporary exhibition, Neighborhood Naturalists!
