- Summer 2012
Ages 5–12
Weekdays, July 9–August 24, 9 am–4 pm with optional before- and after-care
Campers-only Safari Overnight on August 25.
Academy Explorers Camp invites campers to learn about natural science in a safe, fun, and engaging way. Each week of camp explores an exciting new theme and features an off-site field trip! From fossils to our extreme earth to amazing animals, check out our camp themes to find the best fit for your child’s interests.
You may also be interested in this year’s Spring-Break Academy Explorers Camp, which runs from March 28–April 10, 2012. Parents with younger children may want to consider Tiny Tot Explorers, a program for children ages 3–4.
Weekly Camp Themes
- Pet Project (July 9–13)
- Learn what makes your furry, feathered, and scaly friends so special and what you can do to make the life of a pet better.
- Dinosaur Detectives (July 16–20)
- Use fossil clues to unravel an ancient mystery about these amazing animals. Delve deeper into the lives of dinosaur relatives that are still around today.
- Diggin’ Dirt (July 23–27)
- Get your hands dirty and dig into the science of soil! Meet some critters that call dirt home, and find out what it takes to make your garden grow.
- Animal Athletes (July 30–August 3)
- How do you compare to a cheetah, ant, or parrot? Test your speed, skills, and smarts against the gold medal winners of the Animal Kingdom.
- Fossil Frenzy (August 6–10)
- Examine real fossils to uncover the secrets of ancient life from the biggest dinosaur to the smallest plant. Rocks rock!
- Bug Bonanza (August 13–17)
- Fly, scurry, climb, and slink your way through the lives of bugs from all over the world. Plus, meet some real live creepy crawlies.
- Kitchen Creations (August 20–24)
