Directions to the Academy

The Academy of Natural Sciences is located at the corner of 19th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. It faces Logan Circle. You can also locate it using Google Maps, Bing Maps, or MapQuest.

Public Transportation

Three SEPTA bus routes run within a block of the Academy. Southbound Routes 32 & 33 use 19th Street. Northbound, Route 32 uses 18th Street, while Northbound Route 33 uses 20th Street. Route 38 uses 20th Street in both directions. In addition, the Westbound Route 48 uses Arch Street, while several Subway-Surface Trolleys and the Market-Frankford Line run under Market Street. Surburban Station is the closest regional rail station.

Philadelphia Phlash

Phlash Trolleys provide quick and easy connections between the Academy and other Philadelphia attractions and hotels. Service runs from May 1 through October 31. See www.phillyphlash.com for more information.

Bicycling

Five bicycle racks are now in place in front of the Academy. These racks constitute the first installation for the City of Philadelphia's Adopt-a-Rack program, a new program promoted by the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia.

Driving

Visitors traveling on US Route 76 should take US Route 676 East and take the first exit onto Winter Street to Logan Circle. (Please note that this exit appears almost immediately after you merge onto US Route 676.) Those traveling west on US Route 676 should exit at 22nd Street and turn right onto the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and proceed to Logan Circle.

Parking

There is metered parking near the Academy, some of which free on Sunday (look for the signs that say "Except Sunday"). The following lots and garages offer discounts to our visitors. Please read carefully, as some lots have special requirements to obtain their discounts.

Central Parking Systems

There are several locations within one or two blocks of the Academy. To take advantage of Central Systems discount a coupon must be printed from their website and brought with you. Payment must be made by credit card upon parking. For more information on Central Parking please visit: philadelphia.centralparking.com.

Expert Parking

This is an open lot located at 1919 Arch Street with daily rates. This lot does not offer discounts for visitors but it does for Academy Members. The normal rates are $14/day and $7 after 4 pm. Members pay $12/day and $6 after 4 pm.

Logan Square Garage

This is a covered garage located at 1815 Cherry Street with hourly rates. The discount may be up to $6 off depending on total hours parked. Validate the parking ticket at the museum admission desk.

Philadelphia Parking Authority

The Philadelphia Parking Authority has an open lot at 19th and Callowhill Streets (behind the Free Library) that offers reasonable rates.  Weekday rates are $8.50 for 2 hours, or $14 for up to 12 hours.  Saturdays are $6.50, and they are closed on Sundays.
